The diamond buti on this royal blue top is an ornate medallion — symmetrical floral branches radiating from a central point inside a pointed diamond frame. Each one is carved into a single wooden block and pressed in crisp white onto cobalt blue cotton, one impression at a time.

The geometric lattice of the bottom and the tribal border of the dupatta are each a separate carved block — three distinct block print traditions across three coordinated fabrics.

The Making

Carve, Ink, Press, Space

Blue and white block printing is about precision — the negative space between each white motif is as important as the motif itself. Every impression must land exactly right.

Block Carving

The ornate diamond buti, the diagonal lattice and the tribal border motifs are each hand-carved into separate teak wood blocks — fine detail work that defines the quality of each impression.

Fabric Preparation

Royal blue cotton khaddar is washed, lightly starched and stretched flat on a padded printing table with precise spacing guides marked for even buti placement.

White Ink Stamping

The block is loaded with opaque white fabric ink and pressed firmly onto the blue cloth — each buti stamped with even pressure to achieve clean, sharp white against the deep blue base.

Drying & Setting

Shade-dried then heat-set — permanently bonding the crisp white print into the royal blue cotton fibres across all three fabric pieces.
