Heritage & Craft

Resist. Stripe. Cloud. Three Layers of Indigo Craft.

The vertical stripes on this top are resist-dye — fine strips of fabric were tightly bound or waxed before indigo immersion, allowing the white ground to bleed through in narrow lines. The cloudy tonal variation between the stripes is the natural consequence of partial dye penetration — no two metres carry the same cloud pattern.

The cross-clover motif on the bottom is a separate resist — each four-petal cross form individually blocked or bound before the same indigo dye bath, scattered loosely across the cloud-textured ground.

The Making

Resist, Dip, Release, Reveal

Three separate resist-dye processes — vertical binding for the stripe top, individual cross motif masking for the bottom, and a combination of both for the dupatta.

01
Stripe Binding — Top

Fine vertical sections of the indigo cotton are tightly bound with thread or waxed in narrow parallel strips before dye immersion — the bound sections resist the indigo, emerging as white stripe lines after release.

02
Cloud Dye Bath

The bound fabric is submerged in indigo dye — the unbound areas take the colour unevenly, creating the organic cloudy tonal variation that gives the fabric its handcrafted depth.

03
Cross-Clover Resist — Bottom

The four-petal cross-clover motifs are individually masked before the bottom fabric's indigo dye bath — each cross loosely placed in a scattered arrangement across the cloud-textured ground.

04
Release & Setting

All bindings and resists are removed, revealing the full pattern — pieces are then rinsed, shade-dried and heat-set to permanently fix the indigo and white resist pattern into the cotton fibres.

Wear It Your Way

Indigo Minimal. Office to Evening. Effortless.

The vertical stripe top is as versatile as it is artisanal — clean enough for office wear, rich enough in texture for evening occasions. The scattered cross-clover bottom adds quiet pattern without breaking the indigo palette.

Three shades of the same blue, three different craft processes — one completely cohesive set. Unstitched — tailored to your exact fit.

The Dupatta

Cross Motifs Above. Both Borders Below. Complete.

The body carries the same scattered white cross-clover motifs on cloud-textured indigo as the bottom fabric. Then the hem border brings the full set together: a circle-and-dash motif stripe band (the same as the top's hem border), followed by a vertical resist-stripe band (matching the top's body), all framed by the dotted square border stripe — every element of the set contained in one drape.

Wash & Care

Keep the Indigo Deep. Keep the White Crisp.

  • Hand wash separately in cold water with mild detergent.
  • Do not soak or scrub printed areas. No bleach or harsh chemicals.
  • Dry in shade — sunlight fades indigo and yellows white resist areas.
  • Iron on low heat from reverse side only. Do not wring harshly.
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? We're here to help.

Does khadi get softer with every wash?

Usually, it does. After each wash, the fibers tend to relax and the fabric gets looser, thus giving a softer and more comfortable feeling.

Is the Sky Blue Traditional Cotton Khadi fabric truly handspun and handwoven?

Yes. The Sky Blue Traditional Cotton Khadi fabric is handspun and handwoven by artisans who are skilled and who use traditional looms, thus each piece has a unique texture.

Is this khadi fabric breathable and comfortable for summer wear?

Yes. Khadi is a breathable fabric and is lightweight as well, so it allows the air to pass and keeps the skin cool. It is very comfortable for summer wear.

Will the sky blue colour fade after a few washes?

No. The sky blue colour stays bright if you care for it properly. Use cold water for washing with a mild soap and dry in the shade to avoid fading of the colour.

What makes Khadi special?

Each Khadi Sadan product is crafted from authentic KVIC-certified hand-spun and hand-woven fabric, made by skilled rural artisans using natural fibers and dyes. Every piece supports sustainable livelihoods and carries forward India’s timeless textile heritage since 1982.

How should I care for my Khadi garment?

We recommend gentle hand wash or mild machine wash in cold water using eco-friendly detergent. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals. Dry in shade to preserve natural texture and color. With every wash, Khadi becomes softer and more comfortable aging beautifully with time.

Is Khadi suitable for all seasons?

Yes. Khadi’s natural fibers make it a year-round fabric — it keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter. Its breathable weave allows air circulation, making it one of the most comfortable and skin-friendly textiles for India’s diverse climate.

Do your garments shrink after wash?

Khadi may experience a slight, natural shrinkage (3–5%) during the first wash, which is a hallmark of genuine hand-woven fabric. To minimize this, always wash in cold water and avoid tumble drying.

Can I return or exchange my product?

Yes. We offer hassle-free returns or exchanges within 14 days of delivery for unused, unwashed products with tags intact. For assistance, contact our customer support via info@khaddarvas.com or WhatsApp us on our helpline. or call us at our toll free number 1800-309-8383
