Heritage & Craft

The Wheel. The Vine. Two Crafts in One Set.

The white circular wheel buti on the red top draws from one of the oldest geometric motifs in South Asian craft — the chakra or mandala wheel, carved in precise detail into a single wooden block: six triangular spokes radiating from a central dot, enclosed in a scalloped ring. Pressed in white on vivid red, it is minimal and magnetic.

The blue bottom carries a different tradition entirely — a dense batik floral vine with wax crackle lines that no machine can replicate. Two craft languages. One wardrobe story.

The Making

Carve, Press, Wax, Reveal

Two techniques — block printing for the top and dupatta buti, wax batik for the bottom and dupatta border — each demanding different tools, different skills and the same patient hands.

01
Wheel Block Carving

The geometric circular wheel with six triangular spokes and scalloped outer ring is hand-carved into a single teak wood block — every angle cut with precision.

02
White Stamping on Red

Opaque white ink is loaded onto the wheel block and stamped onto vivid red khaddar — each buti placed by eye in a deliberate loose scatter across the full fabric length.

03
Wax Batik — Bottom

Hot wax is drawn onto white cotton using a tjanting tool tracing every daisy bloom, fern frond and vine scroll before denim blue dye immersion — wax crackle lines forming naturally as the wax cools.

04
Gradient Dip — Dupatta

The dupatta is dip-dyed red from one end and blue from the other — the two bleeding naturally in the centre. Wheel buti are then block printed on the red section; the dense floral batik border is added to the blue hem.

Wear It Your Way

Bold Red Above. Cool Blue Below. Striking Together.

Red and blue is one of fashion's most enduring pairings — and this set wears it with craft confidence. The geometric minimal top and the dense botanical bottom create a visual balance between restraint and richness. The gradient dupatta completes the arc: red fading to blue across 240 cm of flowing cotton.

Unstitched — tailored to your exact silhouette every time.

The Dupatta

Red Meets Blue. Wheel Meets Vine. One Drape.

The red end carries the same scattered white circular wheel buti as the kurta — visual unity across the set. The fabric then transitions through a natural gradient — red bleeding into violet and then into soft denim blue. The blue hem carries the same dense white floral vine batik as the bottom, framed by geometric diamond and stripe border bands. Every part of this set appears in this one dupatta.

Wash & Care

Keep the Red Vivid. Keep the Blue True.

  • Hand wash separately in cold water with mild detergent.
  • Do not soak or scrub printed areas. No bleach or harsh chemicals.
  • Dry in shade — sunlight fades both red and blue and shifts the gradient.
  • Iron on low heat from reverse side only. Do not wring harshly.
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? We're here to help.

Does khadi get softer with every wash?

Usually, it does. After each wash, the fibers tend to relax and the fabric gets looser, thus giving a softer and more comfortable feeling.

Is the Sky Blue Traditional Cotton Khadi fabric truly handspun and handwoven?

Yes. The Sky Blue Traditional Cotton Khadi fabric is handspun and handwoven by artisans who are skilled and who use traditional looms, thus each piece has a unique texture.

Is this khadi fabric breathable and comfortable for summer wear?

Yes. Khadi is a breathable fabric and is lightweight as well, so it allows the air to pass and keeps the skin cool. It is very comfortable for summer wear.

Will the sky blue colour fade after a few washes?

No. The sky blue colour stays bright if you care for it properly. Use cold water for washing with a mild soap and dry in the shade to avoid fading of the colour.

What makes Khadi special?

Each Khadi Sadan product is crafted from authentic KVIC-certified hand-spun and hand-woven fabric, made by skilled rural artisans using natural fibers and dyes. Every piece supports sustainable livelihoods and carries forward India’s timeless textile heritage since 1982.

How should I care for my Khadi garment?

We recommend gentle hand wash or mild machine wash in cold water using eco-friendly detergent. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals. Dry in shade to preserve natural texture and color. With every wash, Khadi becomes softer and more comfortable aging beautifully with time.

Is Khadi suitable for all seasons?

Yes. Khadi’s natural fibers make it a year-round fabric — it keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter. Its breathable weave allows air circulation, making it one of the most comfortable and skin-friendly textiles for India’s diverse climate.

Do your garments shrink after wash?

Khadi may experience a slight, natural shrinkage (3–5%) during the first wash, which is a hallmark of genuine hand-woven fabric. To minimize this, always wash in cold water and avoid tumble drying.

Can I return or exchange my product?

Yes. We offer hassle-free returns or exchanges within 14 days of delivery for unused, unwashed products with tags intact. For assistance, contact our customer support via info@khaddarvas.com or WhatsApp us on our helpline. or call us at our toll free number 1800-309-8383
