Heritage & Craft
Jaal. The Net of Flowers. Ancient and Alive.
The jaal — meaning net or lattice — is one of the most complex patterns in Indian block printing. It is not a single motif but an entire ecosystem: large daisy blooms in coral and white, smaller paisley buti nestled between them, and olive green vine stems curling across the full sage ground, connecting everything into one continuous, breathing floral web.
Each colour in this three-colour jaal requires a separate block, a separate ink tray and a separate pass across the fabric — coral, then white, then olive, each aligned by hand.
The Making
Carve, Align, Layer, Repeat
A three-colour jaal demands the highest skill in block printing — every pass must align precisely with the last, on a fabric that stretches 2.5 metres.
Separate teak blocks are carved for the large daisy bloom with white petal outlines, the small coral paisley buti, and the olive green vine stem and leaf — each block precise enough to interlock with the others.
The olive green vine and leaf network is stamped first across the full sage fabric, establishing the skeleton of the jaal across the entire 2.5 metre length.
The large daisy bloom block is loaded with coral ink and pressed into the spaces the vine skeleton defines — each bloom positioned by eye within the flowing vine framework.
White petal outlines are pressed over the coral blooms as the final layer, completing the three-colour composition — along with the coral hem border band printed at the fabric's lower edge.
Wear It Your Way
Garden Freshness. Occasion Grace.
The dense floral jaal top is bold and beautiful — but the soft sage ground keeps it wearable rather than overwhelming. The delicate cream fan buti bottom provides the perfect breathing space, its simple coral pattern echoing the top without competing.
Wear for festive gatherings, casual occasions or anytime the day calls for something quietly special. Unstitched — tailored to your exact fit.
The Dupatta
Soft White Body. The Full Garden at the Hem.
The cream body carries small scattered leaf sprig buti — fine arched fern forms in coral and olive green on soft white, calm and airy. Then the border arrives with full richness: a narrow coral floral stripe announces the transition, followed by a wide panel of the complete sage green floral jaal matching the kurta top — the same large daisy blooms, the same vine network, the same three colours — all resolved into a clean white decorative border band at the very hem.
