Heritage & Craft
Oval Buti. Leaf Within Frame. Ancient Botanical Grammar.
The framed leaf buti — a central botanical sprig enclosed within a scalloped oval or ogee border — is one of the most refined patterns in Indian block printing tradition. Each unit requires two carved blocks: one for the outer scalloped frame, one for the inner leaf sprig, pressed in precise sequence in teal blue on fresh mint green.
The density of the repeat — row after row, column after column across 2.5 metres — is a testament to the printer's patience and precision. No machine achieves this alignment by hand.
The Making
Two Blocks. One Buti. Repeat.
The oval leaf buti top requires two separate blocks — one for the scalloped frame, one for the central leaf sprig — pressed in sequence across the full 2.5 metre mint green fabric.
The outer oval scalloped/dotted border frame and the inner leaf sprig with fine branch details are carved into two separate teak wood blocks — each cut to lock together when pressed in sequence.
The outer scalloped oval frame block is loaded with teal blue ink and pressed across the mint green fabric in even rows — establishing the grid of frames before any leaf is added.
The inner leaf sprig block is pressed inside each frame in a second pass — each central leaf aligned by eye within the outer border already printed, giving the buti its layered, intricate character.
The hem border — an aqua blue ground with a white continuous floral vine scroll — is block printed separately at the fabric's lower edge, completing the kurta piece with a refined finishing band.
Wear It Your Way
Fresh Mint. Cool Teal. Summer Everyday.
The dense oval buti top is pattern-rich but colour-calm — the mint and teal palette keeps it serene rather than busy. The scattered crescent buti cream bottom provides a clean, airy contrast that lets the top breathe. The dupatta with its large feather buti body and mint border completes a three-piece palette that feels effortlessly put together.
Perfect for summer everyday wear, casual ethnic occasions and any setting that deserves a touch of botanical freshness. Unstitched — tailored to your fit.
The Dupatta
Bold Feathers Above. The Full Mint Garden Below.
The cream body carries large scattered teal/aqua arched feather-palm buti — each one a bold arched fan of fine feather fronds, generous in scale and striking against the white ground. These appear only on the dupatta, adding an exclusive motif to the set. At the hem, a thin teal stripe leads into a wide panel of the same mint green oval leaf buti from the kurta top — bringing the full set into one coordinated finish — then a light aqua dotted stripe closes the hem.

Wash & Care
Keep the Mint Fresh. Keep the Teal True.
- Hand wash separately in cold water with mild detergent.
- Do not soak or scrub printed areas. No bleach or harsh chemicals.
- Dry in shade — sunlight fades mint green and dulls teal block print.
- Iron on low heat from reverse side only. Do not wring harshly.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
