The Making

Carve, Ink, Press, Repeat

Three separate wooden blocks — one for the elephant top, one for the circle-and-leaf bottom, one for the dupatta — each carved and pressed entirely by hand.

Block Carving

The line-art elephant, the circle-leaf row and the wave border are each carved into separate teak wood blocks — fine chisel work that takes days per design.

Fabric Preparation

White and navy cotton khaddar are washed, stretched flat and secured on padded printing tables before any ink is applied.

Inking & Stamping

Each block is evenly loaded with fabric ink — grey on white for the top, white on navy for the bottom and dupatta — and stamped firmly, one repeat at a time.

Drying & Setting

Each piece is shade-dried then heat-set — locking the ink permanently into the cotton fibres across all three fabrics.
