Heritage & Craft

Stories Carved in Wood. Printed in Ink.

Every motif on this fabric — the spiral sun, the dancing figure, the geometric medallion — is carved into a wooden block by a master craftsman. That block is then hand-pressed into black ink and stamped precisely onto white cotton khaddar, one impression at a time.

This is block printing: one of South Asia's oldest textile traditions, still done entirely by hand.

The Making

Carve, Ink, Press, Repeat

Each motif requires a separately carved wooden block — and each print is placed by eye and hand, building the full pattern one impression at a time.

01
Block Carving

Tribal motifs are hand-carved into seasoned teak or sheesham wood blocks — each block a unique artwork in itself.

02
Fabric Preparation

White cotton khaddar is washed, starched lightly, and stretched flat on a padded printing table before printing begins.

03
Inking & Stamping

The block is pressed evenly into black fabric-safe ink, then stamped firmly and precisely onto the cloth — repeat by repeat across the full length.

04
Drying & Setting

Printed fabric is shade-dried then heat-set — locking the black ink permanently into the cotton fibres.

Wear It Your Way

Monochrome That Speaks Volumes.

Black and white never looked so layered. The tribal-printed top pairs with the coordinated stripe bottom — two block print languages that speak the same heritage. The sheer dupatta with its delicate motifs and bold tribal border adds the finishing statement.

Unstitched — tailored to your exact silhouette every time.

The Dupatta

Light as Air. Bold at the Border.

The sheer white body is scattered with delicate grey leaf and feather block print motifs — understated and airy. Then, at the hem, a bold tribal geometric border in black takes over — zigzags, suns, flora and figures in a dense band that anchors the entire look.

Wash & Care

Keep the White Bright. Keep the Print Sharp.

  • Hand wash separately in cold water with mild detergent.
  • Do not soak or scrub printed areas. No bleach or harsh chemicals.
  • Dry in shade — direct sunlight can yellow white fabric and fade print.
  • Iron on low heat from reverse side only. Do not wring harshly.
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Need Help?

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? We're here to help.

Does khadi get softer with every wash?

Usually, it does. After each wash, the fibers tend to relax and the fabric gets looser, thus giving a softer and more comfortable feeling.

Is the Sky Blue Traditional Cotton Khadi fabric truly handspun and handwoven?

Yes. The Sky Blue Traditional Cotton Khadi fabric is handspun and handwoven by artisans who are skilled and who use traditional looms, thus each piece has a unique texture.

Is this khadi fabric breathable and comfortable for summer wear?

Yes. Khadi is a breathable fabric and is lightweight as well, so it allows the air to pass and keeps the skin cool. It is very comfortable for summer wear.

Will the sky blue colour fade after a few washes?

No. The sky blue colour stays bright if you care for it properly. Use cold water for washing with a mild soap and dry in the shade to avoid fading of the colour.

What makes Khadi special?

Each Khadi Sadan product is crafted from authentic KVIC-certified hand-spun and hand-woven fabric, made by skilled rural artisans using natural fibers and dyes. Every piece supports sustainable livelihoods and carries forward India’s timeless textile heritage since 1982.

How should I care for my Khadi garment?

We recommend gentle hand wash or mild machine wash in cold water using eco-friendly detergent. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals. Dry in shade to preserve natural texture and color. With every wash, Khadi becomes softer and more comfortable aging beautifully with time.

Is Khadi suitable for all seasons?

Yes. Khadi’s natural fibers make it a year-round fabric — it keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter. Its breathable weave allows air circulation, making it one of the most comfortable and skin-friendly textiles for India’s diverse climate.

Do your garments shrink after wash?

Khadi may experience a slight, natural shrinkage (3–5%) during the first wash, which is a hallmark of genuine hand-woven fabric. To minimize this, always wash in cold water and avoid tumble drying.

Can I return or exchange my product?

Yes. We offer hassle-free returns or exchanges within 14 days of delivery for unused, unwashed products with tags intact. For assistance, contact our customer support via info@khaddarvas.com or WhatsApp us on our helpline. or call us at our toll free number 1800-309-8383
