Multi-colour block printing demands a separate carved block for each colour and meticulous alignment between each pass — the most skilled form of the craft.

Block Carving

Separate teak blocks are carved for each colour layer — floral outlines, petal fill, leaf texture and accent dots each requiring their own precise carving.

Fabric Preparation

Cotton khaddar is washed, lightly treated and stretched flat. The chevron bottom requires careful alignment marking before the diagonal stripe printing begins.

Multi-Layer Stamping

Each block is inked and stamped in sequence — lightest colour first, darkest last — with shade-drying between layers to prevent bleeding.

Drying & Setting

Completed fabric is shade-dried then heat-set — permanently bonding all colour layers into the cotton fibre at once.
